It rained in Twin Falls, Idaho Today
This morning the rain fell and the wind blew hard in Twin Falls, Idaho but that did not dampen my spirits or discourage me from continuing my freelance writing and blogging quest. Here I am yet another day, with about thirty sites still to post ten entries on them.
This site is only two sites away from qualifying! Yeah! When I finish this entry, I will apply to a pay for blogging company and enter the url.
Then I Wait!!! In a couple of days, a week at the most, I will either receive an acceptance or rejection letter. To date, I have received four rejection letters for four blogs.
Four out of four isn’t bad, really…You see, I am new at this blogging for pay business. All my writing up till now has been free for love of writing. Now I find a need to support my self at what I love doing the most. It is a different world, writing for money. I do not know all the rules. From those rejection letters, I am learning what I need to know to improve my sites.
This is a list of requirements thus far that has caused my sites to be rejected: (take note new bloggers out there, this will help you if you avoid the pitfalls!!!)
1. Thirty days is required before your blog can be accepted to advertise for our clients.
2. Ninety days is required before your blog can be accepted to advertise for our clients.
3. We prefer that you purchase blog space on your own domain. If you have a website that qualifies, just sign up for Wordpress under your domain name.
4. Blogs like wordpress, blogspot, blogger, etc. are unacceptable if you do not have your own domain.
5. There are too many ads on your site.
6. The content lacks depth; or it does not give enough valuable information.
7. There are too many typos, spelling errors and grammar errors.
8. Your site is plagierized. (I did not receive that message in those words, but a company insinuated that my “original” content was copied from someplace, but it was not.) Double check sources on quoted material and be original.
9. Sites that contain poetry, or posts copied onto mulitiple sites.
10. Site content is generally distasteful or out of context for our advertisers.
11. Site contains too many photos.
That is what I learned so far.
I hope this information is helpful to freelance writing beginners out there and to all you beginning bloggers. Contact me at the_midnight_writer@mountainspiritproductions.org if you want to share information or if you have questions about my quest.
My website is http://www.mountainspiritproductions.org/themidnightwriter
Now to find a company that might accept this blog for sponsoring their content or their advertisers. Wish me luck.
The quest continues…..it stopped raining in Twin Falls, Idaho. They needed the rain!
