The Midnight Writers Freelance Quest

Hi! My name is Cheryl Lynn Gardner, better known to most people as Summer Breeze. I have had a passion for writing for years. I also enjoy pen names, being a fan of Benjamin Franklin. Some of my pen names have been "Mary Sunshine" and "Midnight Rider", which was used for my peace and healing work at rainbow gatherings. Hence, I chose a pen name that is a play on that name, The Midnight Writer. The association is obvious since I am a free lance and sometimes creative writing.

  • A Stop in Mount Shasta on our Journeys

Two days ago, Cephas and I arrived in Mount Shasta on our way to Sacramento to visit our brother. Ken is undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer and  is not doing well at the moment. Our prayers go out to him as we also pray to accept whatever God’s will is for each of us. It is our desire to see Ken at least one more time before he leaves this earth.

It is very fitting that we stopped in Mount Shasta for a few days of refreshing and reflection. Two very good friends of ours live and work here at their Art of Massage studio. Cephas helped Fred build the house beginning in 2003. Mary joined Fred as his partner two years ago when she came from Utah to pursue training as a massage therapist, and to further her spiritual quest.

Mary Akasha holds weekly meetings in the town of Mount Shasta for those who desire to listen to the teachings of Akasha and Asun. These are two “ascended masters” who teach about the akashic records and what is to come on earth for mortal man. It is very esoteric and very Mount Shasta.

All that happens in this place is beyond what would be considered the “norm” elsewhere.  Any one who comes here can sense the difference in the aura and mindset of this majestic place that stands in the light and heights of Mount Shasta.

I would not feign ability to explain why Mount Shasta is so different. I will only comment that the evidence reflects everywhere, even in the history books. Explorers who came here were awestruck just as people who come from around the world today to visually take in the beauty and splendor of the mountain. A daily walk up main street of the town reveals people standing at various vantage points just gazing at Mount Shasta. This mountain probably holds a record for one of the most photographed mountains of all time.

The mountain is ever changing. During our stays in this town, we have witnessed all seasons with the sunrises and sunsets as varied as the seasons. The clouds over the mountain go through a constant evolution. I have captured some of the unique cloud formations on lucky moments when my camera was handy.

Two years ago, we spent about six weeks of winter with Mary and Fred, living in their massage studio. The studio is adorned with double french doors on two sides, one side looking out at Black Butte, the other with two sets of doors revealing Mount Shasta’s full splendor. It was always amazing to just sit inside and watch the clouds and the sun pass over the mountain through these double glass doors.

A couple of rare moments for me happened when I was able to photograph the rays of pink light that seem to emanate from the sky randomly. I will be putting these photographs on my website in the near future. They once were displayed on Fred and Mary’s Art of Massage website, which I built a couple years ago. However, they outgrew a need for it so I retained all the graphics and photography.

Our visit here now is filled with fun and visiting mingled with a little bit of work to help Fred and Mary prepare for spring events coming in April. Cephas helped Fred repair a propane tank that was leaking so Fred could sell his vacation rental home. Today, Cephas will be spreading soil in the yard at their home. As for me, I helped Mary with spring house cleaning and will be continuing that effort today, after I finish writing.

    Till tomorrow, enjoy life.
