Nearing the Ides of March
It is unbelievable. The ides of March are near and spring’s advent is at hand. Somehow I missed the months of January and February on this blog. I must have been sleeping and when I awoke from my mid winter dream, I realized that I had not visited here for a while.
The ides of March is a very significant day in history. Does anyone know what event went down in historical legend on this day?
I started this race to get paid for blogging last March. Wow! It has been one year since I began this journey. That is unbelievable. The memories of those beginning months are vivid in my mind. All those hours seeking colleges, universities and public libraries that would allow my husband and I to occupy their space for five to eight hours was a real challenge. Since we were traveling, we had to use our ingenuity and persistance to scout new opportunities for internet. We did not own a laptop until about mid May. Now I can’t imagine living without one.
You must be wondering what is happening on my race to become a freelance writer turned successful blogger entrepreneur. Yes? Well, the race is still on. I have qualified to run the second leg of this race. Now exactly what does that mean?
It means that I have achieved enough blog ranking status to become a paid blogger that earns a minimal fee for posting. Lately, I’ve been able to acquire some posts that pay $35.00 and $25.00, which is quite a jump from $5.00 or $10.00 that most companies want to pay beginners.
What does the “ides of March” mean and where did the phrase originate? any one?
